He communicated as a jerk. I had a feeling that he does not respect founders. Does not care about the product. Is not willing to build relationships. Slow-to-no response.

Ammar is one of the most thoughtful VCs on our cap table. If you're looking for someone that will put in the time to understand your business deeply and consistently engage with investor asks, you'll want to have Ammar and Adapt on your side. Without fail, Ammar will always reply to each investor update with relevant industry introductions (he has a fantastic network) and valuable perspectives that highlight how much thought he puts into his portfolio companies. On the investment side, Ammar and Mo were quick to make a decision & wired funds quickly. We're grateful to have Adapt on our side and would highly recommend them to any entrepreneur!

Very nice in person, quick to take a meeting, but doesn't follow through on what he says. Typical "let me know how I can be helpful" but likely won't be helpful unless he really likes what you're doing. Also can go back on his words.

After reading Mark's blogs, following him for several years on Twitter and corresponding about different topics, we got in touch as I was raising a series A. He was super kind and approachable. He passed on our round, I didn't think much of it at the time, even though the feedback he gave wasn't based on anything new he learned during the meeting, and could have probably been given regardless to the meeting based on just looking at our website... What kind of put me off, is that he asked to keep in touch for the next round, and when I reached out again a year later he politely passed, seeming to forget the reason he passed the previous time and stating "it's not for him". I have several thoughts of what could have been the "real" reason for rejection, but I try to not judge and give people the benefit of the doubt. One thing I'd add if Mark reads this, if entrepreneurs are smart enough to reach different levels in the startup life cycle, don't BS them with fluffy rejections. They can tell right through them...

Bucky gets the developer tooling and cloud infrastructure landscape better than any other investor I've interacted with -- he can go deep into the tech while also grokking the overall market opportunities even at a very early stage. He's quick to help when needed, whether it be selling a candidate, working through strategy, or when we just need thoughtful, direct advice.

I've know Ed professionally for 10 years, 8 years as our earliest investor and board member. Would say his style is a good mix between best practice and scrappy. He’s given helpful references to best practices (mostly in strategy/marketing/product mgmt/fundraising) during different stages of my company, and he’s also gotten his hands dirty in supporting me in board meeting and even helping to code during the rebuild of our product! I’d also say that he’s much more progressive and in tuned with global trends than most VCs that invest in Asia.

I first met James at an education conference. Although our meeting was only 15 minutes, he provided on-point advice that still guides the company direction today. James is a patient listener, asks thoughtful questions, and challenges claims and assumptions in a respectful manner. Since that first meeting, I've interacted with James mostly through email, and he responds much quicker than I would've expected, him being an investor and all. Recently, I bumped into James at a virtual conference, and he remembered everything about my company. He receives my monthly company updates, and I suppose he actually reads them. We chatted a little bit, and he agreed to take another meeting with me to share updates on the company. All this to say that my interactions with James have all been highly positive, and it's clear he both values the time of founders and has the traits you would hope for in an investment partner: patient; willing and able to help; and responsive.

In the enterprise software space there are a lot of VCs who talk a good game, but then it comes right down to it they are using a playbook from 20 years ago. Or just bullshitting well. We were really impressed with the E team and Christopher in particular. They are pretty selective but have a very firm grasp of what enterprise software challenges. If you are in the enterprise software space they should definitely be on your radar.

When we were first raising our round, I was called out to Sand Hill Road for a meeting with Vinod. I remember saving up and taking the 12 hour flight to make that meeting. The entire episode was so disappointing, as I had a lot of respect for Vinod's achievements beforehand. He showed up 25 mins late to the 1 hour meeting. He said "this won't work, Facebook can do this" and yawned very visibly through the entire pitch. Never really listened to any of my pitch, then left 10 mins early for another meeting. Founders - don't pick the fancy billionaire investor but go for the ones who will fight your corner and support you.
