My relationship with Ezra started with him turning me down. He was honest about the fit with his fund and didn't see 'venture scale'. But, we continued to text as I navigated options on what to do with my company. I ultimately received an offer from a large strategic and a couple V/C term sheets, and he provided the best guidance among my mentors on what path to take. It was to take the strategic acquisition despite it being against his interests (he would have written a small personal check). He has always been straight up with me and direct in his feedback. Two years later, his advice was prescient as we made more money on our earnout than the sale and averted this year's crisis. He continues to surface opportunities and connections for my personal growth. he has also led me to incredible investing opportunities that I wouldn't have otherwise discovered (fellow v/c firms, crypto opportunities, etc.). He also gives me great feedback on some ideas I'm batting around despite his time constraints. He genuinely cares about everyone in his community and the pursuit of truth. IMO, this is driven by his strong faith. I've gotten to know his family and his friends, and he might be the only v/c investor i let into my next venture.
