I will couch by saying my experience was from a few years ago and that I don't necessarily think his flaws come from a fundamentally bad core. But just speaking empirically, of the ~100+ pitch processes I've been through, Ash's bedside manner was I think probably the most counterproductive I can think of, as evidenced by me, a cofounder and a key diligence resource that he talked to all independently voicing distaste for his abrasive / bordering-on-disrespectful tone, especially as peers. All of us are quite thick-skinned, but it was pretty remarkable that we all reported back the same exact impressions of how off-putting the unnecessarily punchy, know-it-all demeanor came off to us. The other knock is that while he wrote a prompt, decently insightful reason for why they wanted to pass until they got more visibility, he ended with offers to help regardless, which appeared pretty hollow after ignoring a related ask, but that also may have been a reflection of one of his partners being flaky. So my rating reflects both the above, and the fact that the vast majority of other investors I've come across -- -- term sheet or pass --were just so much easier to deal with and not waste time or burn relationship capital on. Hopefully this was an anomaly.
