For the first couple of meetings, I was terrified of Arjan. He was so incredibly direct, did not hesitate to tell me I'm going down the wrong path, and challenged my vision. Needless to say, I thought he disliked me and would never invest. I was wrong. Over time, I learned to really appreciate his style and saw through his expressionless face and harsh tone. He is no BS kind of guy with the best of intentions. He believed in me and invested when everyone else waited on the sidelines. I do believe his check triggered the rest of our investors to move forward.
