How Well Do You Know This Investor?

Had a couple of meetings

This investor reached out to us with strong interest. Given the name of tiger global, we entertained the meeting. During the live meeting, John said on our face that tiger has done all the due diligence and market research and has made the decision to invest in us. All he asked was P&L and customer data and said that his team would run analysis and come back with a valuation. We felt this is too good to be true! Our lead tier 1 investor said Tiger is really Tier 2/2.5. We showed higher level view of our company and few weeks later he completely ghosted us. We realized later Tiger invested in a competitive company and that all this was simply a low-class act to gather competitive intelligence. I'd suggest fellow founders to stay away from this person. Our tier 1 investors say that this behavior does not help achieve a greatness within top VC community. We raised a great round at great terms just a few weeks later from someone who we really admired.
